One hour stop at VORONET MONASTERY, one of the most beautiful monasteries in Bucovina, the birthplace of Stefan cel Mare, included in the UNESCO Heritage of Romania. Also called the “Sistine Chapel of the East”, it impresses with its very special paintings. The exterior painting of Voroneț dates back to the reign of Petru Rareș, and is made at a high artistic level, being considered the most successful ensemble of Moldavian feudal art. The uniqueness of this painting is given by the fact that the artist introduced Moldavian musical instruments (bucium, cobza), local landscapes, erasure, folk mood. All these elements have the role of making the locals resonate more closely with the biblical message. We continue our journey to accommodation.

In the morning, we head to BARSANA MONASTERY, a blessed place, included in the UNESCO World Heritage, to start the day of St. John in this blessed place. The monastery represents a synthesis between piety and art, where prayer, which builds a beautiful soul, unites with artistic work, which builds light built from stone and wood. Bârsana – is an icon of the Orthodox Christian soul of Maramures at the crossroads of millennia, a hope for a blessed future, it is a holy place where nature unites with the Church in the cosmic Liturgy. After finishing the visit, we head to the MERRY CEMETERY of Sapanta, made up of dozens of colorful crosses, on which are naively painted scenes from the life of the deceased, accompanied by epitaphs written in the first person, in the popular language. Here, death is considered more beautiful, thanks to the craftsman Ion Stan Patras (1907-1977), who managed to associate the painted sculptures and the word. The folk craftsman colors the crosses with Sapanta blue, and the instantly composed ballads tell the story of the lives of those taken without return, in various stages of their lives. We end the tour with the SAPANTA MONASTERY – PERI, the tallest wooden church in the world, with a height of 78m. We head to the guesthouse, to have lunch.
